Bangladesh Cricket Board not in favour of continuing split coaching policy

Mutli-format coaching is the hottest topic around world cricket, however, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) feels otherwise. BCB tried their hand at split coaching for their national side, but will likely discontinue the system after not-so-desirable results.

The board announced split coaching ahead of the Asia Cup 2022, calling in former Indian player Sridharan Sriram as their T20 coach, taking over from ODI and Test coach Russell Domingo, who quit his role last month.

BCB is in the process of finding a suitable replacement but are also mulling over the idea of reverting back to a one-coach policy, according to BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

As per Cricbuzz, Chowdhury stated that BCB is searching for a coach before the home series against England, apart from finding ways to include Sriram in the support staff.

"First of all we have to appoint our head coach. What we are planning is that we will sit with the head coach (after appointing him) and would like to know what he needs.

This is not a fact (that Sriram will have to play second fiddle to the head coach.) It is just that we want one head coach and with so much cricket coming around and his deputy might have to take charge of the whole team at some point,"

Former Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha, Mike Hussey, Robin Singh, Mohammad Kaif, and Lance Klusener are some of the potential candidates.
