The four quarterfinals of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 produced some scintillating batsmanship across all matches, while some ended in wins, others came in losing cause. Here's a lowdown of which four teams ended up qualifying for the semifinals stage. 


Punjab vs Karnataka

In the first quarterfinal of the day between Punjab and Karnataka, the Mayank Agarwal-led side clinched a last-over thriller to win the match by four wickets.

​Put into bat, Punjab's innings were steered by Abhishek Sharma's 109. Sharma saw support from Anmol Malhotra (29) and Sanvir Singh (39), as Vidwath Kaverappa rattled their line-up with a 4-for.



​Chasing 236 to win, Ravikumar Samarth anchored the Karnataka innings, scoring a 106-ball 71. Former skipper Manish Pandey contributed with a sturdy 35, while former Rajasthan Royals player Shreyas Gopal played a hand of 42 runs. Singh also claimed two wickets for Punjab.

Maharashta vs Uttar Pradesh

The second quarterfinal between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh witnessed Ruturaj Gaikwad hog all the limelight. Gaikwad singlehandedly propelled Maharashtra to a mammoth score of 330 for 5, scoring an unbeaten 220, which included hitting Shiva Singh for seven sixes in an over. 



Chasing 331, UP opener Aryan Juyal stood in defiance for his side. Juyal, unfazed by wickets tumbling at one end, registered a valiant 159 off 143, only to become Rajvardhan Hangargekar's fourth wicket.

The young all-rounder rocked UP's batting line, claiming a match-winning fifer, helping Maharashtra to a massive 58-run win.

Jammu and Kashmir vs Assam

In a high-scoring affair, Assam edged past first-time quarterfinalists Jammu and Kashmir by seven wickets. Batting first J&K batters Shubham Khajuria and Henan Nazir struck centuries, taking the Assam bowlers out of the match. Fazil Rashid scored 53 off 46, helping his side reach 350 in 50 overs. 

Assam's Rishav Das and Riyan Parag calculated the chase down to perfection. Both players ended up scoring hundreds, while for Parag (174) this was his third in the ongoing VHT competition. Das remained unbeaten on 114 helping his side clinch the match by seven wickets.

Saurashtra vs Tamil Nadu

In the final match of the day, Saurashtra beat Tamil Nadu by 44 runs to book a spot in the semi-finals. Harvik Desai, Chirag Jani, and Arpit Vasavada scored half-centuries, lifting their side to 293 for 8. Sai Kishore and M Mohammed claimed two wickets apiece.

Tamil Nadu's innings started poorly after their top three failed to contribute on the scoreboard. Skipper Baba Indrajith and Kishore provided stability scoring 53 and 74 runs, respectively. However, Jani's 4-for ensured Saurashtra came back into the game and ended up defending their score.
