Pakistan captain Babar Azam celebrated his 28th birthday on Saturday (October 15). A day later, the Pakistan cricket camp had a private party where Babar met legendary former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar, who presented him with a special gift and some priceless advice for the showpiece event.

Gavaskar was seen gifting Babar his signed cap in a video shared by Pakistan Cricket Board on its official Twitter handle. After that, he shared his wisdom, which the Pakistani superstar grasped with the utmost attention.

The basics of the game ask the batters to bat as per the demands of the match situation. Gavaskar, the first-ever batter to enter the 10000-run club in Tests, reverberated the same thing and urged Babar to emphasise playing shots as per the situation.

Here's what Gavaskar told Babar

"There's no problem if your shot selection is good. If you select your shots as per the situation, there won't be any problem."

He then exemplified it, pointing towards Mohammad Yousuf, a legendary former cricketer and current batting coach of Pakistan.

Notably, Babar Azam had a torrid time with the bat during the Asia Cup 2022. Also, he performed in patches in the seven-match T20I series against England on home soil. So, it will be interesting to see how he fares in the World Cup, as his performance will more or less decide Pakistan's fate in the mega event.
