ECB announces resumption of Cricket in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II


England and Wales Cricket Board on Friday announced that cricket activities in the country will resume from Saturday onwards to pay a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. 

ECB has arrived at this decision after consultation with Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and following the Official National Mourning guidance. 



Resumption of Matches: 

England vs South Africa, 3rd Test at Kennington Oval

England Women vs India Women, 1st T20I at Riverside

England U19 vs Sri Lanka U19, 3rd Youth ODI at Leicester

Ahead of each fixture, a minute’s silence will be observed along with the respective national anthems of the country. 


Tribute details 

Furthermore, all the players and coaches will wear black arm bands. 

Earlier today, England skipper Ben Stokes had also expressed his desire to continue the match to honour the late Queen. 

The guidance from the government gave freehand to the individual sporting bodies to make decisions. Although Football has been discontinued, the games like cricket, golf and rugby will resume from Saturday.
