England women’s head coach Lisa Keightley is set to leave her role this September. As announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the former Australian cricketer will not be extending her contract beyond England’s upcoming home series against the Indian women’s team.

Lisa Keightley to quit coaching role ahead of 2023 T20 World Cup

Keightley was appointed as the head coach of the England womens team back in January 2020. During her tenure, the team reached the semi-finals of the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia and the final of the 2022 Women's World Cup in New Zealand.

As per the reports, both ECB and Keightley believed that the timing was right to quit the role, considering her replacement will be requiring some time with the team before the next T20 World Cup, scheduled for February 2023.

Her last assignment features England's white-ball home series against the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India side in September.

Upon her looming departure, Jonathan Finch, Director of England Women's Cricket, said:

"We are incredibly grateful for the commitment and passion Lisa has shown over the last two-and-a-half years in the role. We have seen increased competition for places over the last 12 months and the squad Lisa leaves is an exciting blend of youth and experience."
