The 47th match of IPL 2024 turned out to be a nightmare for Rishabh Pant and co. as KKR hammered them by seven wickets with a complete performance at the iconic Eden Gardens. It all started with Pant deciding to bat first after winning the toss but the decision backfired big time, and once DC lost early wickets, they were always behind the 8-ball.

KKR eventually chased down the 154-run target with ease and Delhi would need to forget this loss as quickly as possible. Pant though was optimistic after the loss, but did not shy away from talking about the mistakes they committed in the game.

He defended his decision to bat first, but added that they did not score enough runs and the target of around 150 was below-par.

"I think it was a good decision for us to bat first, but as a batting unit, we didn't perform well enough. I believe 150 was definitely below par, especially considering the flow of the game. However, that's part and parcel of cricket.

Pant also added that there is nothing to worry and they are progressing well as a team and stated that in T20 cricket, one cannot be consistent all the time.

"No, definitely, the way we were progressing as a team was quite good, but, you know, it happens in T20 cricket. You can't always come out on top every day. The way we batted, falling short by 40-50 runs, hurt us in the bowling department."

Delhi Capitals will next play against Rajasthan Royals at their home ground Arun Jaitley Stadium on 7th of May.
