On April 30, 2024, South Africa announced their 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 with Aiden Markram appointed as the captain who will lead the side for the first time in an ICC event. 

The squad features the usual picks like David Miller, Reeza Hendricks, and Heinrich Klaasen with the return of Anrich Nortje and Quinton de Kock both of whom have been removed from Cricket South Africa's central contract list. 

Ryan Rickelton and Ottniel Baartman have made an impact in the SA20 league, and have earned their maiden T20I call-ups.

The South Africa's bowling line-up includes the big names of Kagiso Rabada with support from Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee and spinners like Bjorn Fortuin, Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi have also made their name in the squad.

Aiden Markram has been appointed as the captain of the South Africa T20 World Cup Squad who will captain the side in an ICC event for the first time. 

Temba Bavuma was earlier the captain of the team in the T20 World Cup in 2022.
