The 21-year-old batter, who had been instrumental in bolstering Mumbai's run tally, faced an unfortunate dismissal in the 6th over of the match. As the match progressed, Varma found himself amidst a challenging situation after the early dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. 

His wicket became even more significant in the context of the match. It was a deja vu moment for Varma, who had suffered a similar fate in a previous match, leading to a narrow defeat for his team.

The pivotal moment came when Varma attempted a flick off a fuller delivery, only to miss the ball completely. As he scrambled to regain his ground, Ishan Kishan, his batting partner, hesitated, ultimately leaving Varma stranded outside the crease.
