In a significant and highly anticipated development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) men’s senior selection committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, is scheduled to convene with BCCI secretary Jay Shah in Ahmedabad on April 30 to finalize the 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup in the US and West Indies.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be unable to attend the meeting in Ahmedabad due to his commitment to Mumbai Indians' next fixture against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday evening. Nevertheless, he is expected to participate virtually in the afternoon session. Indian head coach Rahul Dravid's mode of participation, whether in-person or online, remains uncertain at this time.

Selectors to announce the squad on May 1

“Yes, a meeting will take place in Ahmedabad on Tuesday afternoon. All selectors, coach and captain will be attending it,” says a source close to developments.

Agarkar recently met with Rohit in New Delhi, following which a selection meeting has been scheduled in Ahmedabad. Additionally, Agarkar attended the Mumbai Indians' match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. He observed the entire fixture from one of the commentary boxes.

It's anticipated that selectors will announce a squad of 15 for the T20 World Cup, along with some traveling reserves. The International Cricket Council (ICC) deadline for squad submissions is May 1, with teams permitted to make alterations to the initial squad until May 25.
