On April 29, 2024, New Zealand announced their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 with Kane Williamson as the captain. The marquee tournament is scheduled to be in the USA and Caribbean.

Under the astute leadership of Williamson, New Zealand Cricket has announced a balanced squad, comprising of a similar side that played during the T20 World Cup 2022. The captain with lead their batting charts, alongside Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra and Finn Allen. 

Whereas, the bowling will comprise of Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry. Players like Mark Chapman, Michael Bracewell and Jimmy Neesham will be New Zealand's X-Factors for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to be played at the USA and West Indies.

Kane Williamson, the star batter of New Zealand, In 2016 was assigned the role of captain across all formats of cricket after the retirement of Brendon McCullum, beginning the World Cup T20I in India. 

In 2019, the 33-year-old cricketer was named as the captain for the Cricket World Cup. 

In the ICC World Test Championship in 2021, he was appointed as the captain and New Zealand defeated India in the final by eight wickets. Williamson was named the captain of the New Zealand squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in August 2021. 

Under his astute leadership, New Zealand reached their third consecutive ICC event final across formats after beating England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup.

Gary Raymond Stead was a former New Zealand Cricketer and after retiring from cricket in all formats was appointed the head coach of the New Zealand Cricket Team. Under his mentorship, New Zealand finished as runners-up at the 2019 Cricket World Cup. 

He was a top-order batsman who had played five Tests in nine months in 1999 with an average of 34.75. In August 2018, New Zealand Cricket appointed Gary Stead as the head coach of New Zealand men's team, succeeding Mike Hesson.
