India’s much-anticipated squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup is likely to be announced during the last week of April. With over a decade of India's title drought at ICC events, there are multiple areas to look forward to in the showpiece event.

As Cricbuzz reported, Rishabh Pant is all set to make a comeback in the Men in Blue squad, with Virat Kohli being a certainty to be in the unit as well. At the same time, Pant’s presence means there won’t be either Sanju Samson or KL Rahul in the squad, with Jitesh Sharma, who was there in T20Is lately, being the frontrunner to be Pant’s backup.

Kohli being a certainty, and Rohit being the captain means Yashasvi Jaiswal’s place in the starting XI is very bleak. By drafting Kohli and Rohit at the top, India can allow Suryakumar Yadav, the No. 1 T20I batsman in the world, to play at his preferred No. 3 position. Pant, the southpaw, will follow them, while Hardik Pandya and Rinku Singh are expected to deliver the finishing touches.

Among the bowlers, the BCCI must make a bold move to achieve success in slow and low conditions in the West Indies and the USA. While Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh are not at their greatest form in the IPL 2024, bringing in Mohit Sharma, who has been performing incredibly since IPL 2023, should be an ideal solution for Rohit & Co. for partnering with Jasprit Bumrah.

Similar to Siraj, Ravi Bishnoi has not been performing at his lofty standards either. This should give Yuzvendra Chahal a much-deserved opportunity to the T20 World Cup, pairing with his partner-in-crime Kuldeep Yadav.
