The Gujarat Titans will face the Delhi Capitals in the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). This match will be played on April 17th at the Narendra Modi Stadium at 7:30 PM IST.

The Gujarat Titans have played decent cricket in the tournament, but they have blown hot and cold. The Titans will now be looking to stack up points in the next few clashes and climb up the points table to strengthen their claim to a top-four spot.

The Delhi Capitals, who have been struggling in the tournament, are currently positioned towards the lower end of the table. However, they showed signs of a comeback in the last game, with the return of key players Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar. The young Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk also made a strong impression in the last game, adding depth to the Capitals' lineup.

McGurk walked out to bat in the game when David Warner was dismissed. His aggressive approach added impetus to the chase of 168 runs on a slowish Lucknow wicket. Though he struggled after the initial phase, he did not throw his wicket away and picked up his rhythm again, taking his team across the victory line.

This young batter could be a threat to GT in the game, and here are the reasons why -

Aggressive intent

Jake Fraser-McGurk has shown in his booming career that he is unfazed by playing conditions or game situations. He knows only one way of batting: 'see the ball and hit the ball'. This approach can lead to a bit of inconsistency, but the day he clicks, he will change the complexion of a game within a matter of deliveries.

Current form

Fraser-McGurk has come into the IPL on the back of a brilliant show in the BBL 13. He scored 253 runs in 8 matches at a strike rate of 158. This high strike rate was maintained while his average was 32.12, showing consistency in his run-scoring.

The freedom given by the team management

The DC team management has names like Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting. They have given Jake Fraser-McGurk the freedom to go out and bat in his style. The idea is for him to increase the scoring rate and put his team ahead in the competition in the initial stages of the game.
