So, that is it from me, Karthik Raj and my co-commentators, Kingshuk Kusari and Arijit Gupta. Stay tuned to OneCricket's coverage of a lot other matches.
Daryl Ferrario: I am very happy as my innings helped the team. It's been an enjoyable experience with experienced players like M Ashwin and Vijay Shankar around, makes things easier. There's no personal goal, we as a team would like to go deep in the tournament.
The Salem Spartans skipper Daryl Ferrario has been named as the 'Player of the Match' for his 40-run knock
M Mohammed: Wasn't the kind of start we expected, but we pulled things back in the middle overs. Many inexperienced players in our team. We tried to improvise and improve in this match as compared to our last match. We played too many dot balls (in the first half of the run chase). We thought we could have chased it down, but fell short eventually. Disappointed with the result. But credit to Francis [Rokins] who played well, I got out at the wrong time and the last two overs proved crucial. We have a lot of inexperienced players but happy with the improvement shown by the side. We played too many dot balls (in the first half of the chase). We thought we could have chased it down, but fell short eventually.
Time for the Post-match Presentation ceremony
With 25 required off the last over, there was still a tiny chance for Tiruppur Tamizhans but Francis Rokins got out off the very first delivery. B Praanesh continued to end a fine final over as he removed Rajkumar off the penultimate delivery too. This is a crucial victory for Salem Spartans as their first game was washed out
Thereafter, Maan Bafna and Francis Rokins came together to form a steady 57-run partnership. Eventually, Periyaswamy came back to dismiss Bafna in the 14th over. The required run-rate kept increasing but Rokins also came up with a few boundaries to keep it to an achievable rate. The likes of Tushar Raheja, M Mohammed and Rajkumar all came up with boundaries on their own but none could do it at a sustained level.
So, that is it, Salem Spartans seal a comfortable 16-run win in the end. Chasing 165 for victory, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans didn't get off to the best start as S Dinesh got out off Ganesh Moorthi's bowling. S Aravind started well but he consumed a lot of dot balls before becoming G Periyaswamy's first victim in the sixth over. Soon, the score became 29-3 as N Mohammed Ashik was bowled by a Murugan Ashwin googly.
S Mohan Prasath
19.6 B Praanesh to Prasath
1 Final ball of the over and Salem have won this by 16 runs. Full and wide, Prasath taps it to the off side and takes a run to finish off the Tirrupur innings. They will take it after the mauling in the last game, but would be kicking themselves that they weren't on the other side of the results.
c V Shankar b B Praanesh
19.5 B Praanesh to R Rajkumar
W Gone!! What mad catching is this! In the slot, Rajkumar slogs the ball to long off, Vijay Shankar hops, grabs the ball inches from the boundary line and hops on a leg to balance himself in the outfield. Phenomenal catching under the circumstances.
19.4 B Praanesh to R Rajkumar
0 Short ball on the off stump. Rajkumar misses the pull.
19.3 B Praanesh to R Rajkumar
4 Threads the gap between point and short third man. Backs away and slaps the ball through the off side. Good shot.
19.2 B Praanesh to R Rajkumar
2 Two runs to the leg side. Rajkumar trying to slog everything now. He has to.
c R Karthikeyan b B Praanesh
19.1 B Praanesh to Rokins
W First ball of the final over and wicket straight away. Brilliant running catch against a very good shot. Length ball on the leg stump, Rokins slaps the straight through deep backward square leg. The ball seemed to be flying straight into the boundary, but Karthikeyan grabs that out of nowhere while running in hard to his right.
