So that's all for the coverage of this game. Till tomorrow, it's a ta-ta and a goodnight from me, Anurag Dasgupta and my co-commentators, Anurag Singh and Arijit Kundu.
NS Chaturved | The winning skipper: "We have batting till 8 or 9. It was about hanging in there, me and J Kousik kept talking about that. We would like to keep improving in the coming games."
Jagatheesan Kousik | Man of the Match: "The key was to land the ball in the right areas as there was seam movement on offer. When I went in to bat, there was movement but after a few balls, I got my eye in and it became easy."
Rajhamany Srinivasan | The losing captain: "It wasn't a difficult wicket to bat but was two-paced but unfortunately it didn't go our way. I'm not worried about this game as this was the first game and we will look to do well going forward. Maybe in hindsight we should've gone in with an extra seamer but that's how the game goes."
Time for the presentation ceremony.
DG: Chasing a paltry total of 97, the Panthers were off to a worse possible start with both Rajkumar and Anirudh back to the pavilion in the first powerplay itself. The wicket was on the slower side and batters found it difficult to play their natural attacking game. Arun Karthik looked nervy in the middle and eventually threw his wicket away at a crucial stage of the match. But NS Chaturved and Jagatheesan Kousik played cautiously and eventually changed the course of the match with a 17-run over off MS Sanjay. Kousik departed for a well compiled 31, but by the time he perished, the match was almost done and dusted. In the end, a total of 97 was never going to trouble the Panthers who won the game with 30 balls to spare.
DG: That’s the end of the match and Madurai Panthers have held their nerves to beat the Dindigul Dragons by 6 wickets in a relatively one-sided affair here at Chepauk. The Panthers were outstanding with the ball in hand and the opposition had no answer to their variations.
