Bio
Picked on the back of strong performances in the ICC- U19 World Cup 2014, Kagiso Rabada has not had the best of the times in the IPL so far. He has been a star performer in the international arena for South Africa but his IPL team is yet to get fair dividends for the trust it showed on him in 2017 by paying Rs 4.2 crore.
In the three seasons that have gone by since Rabada was included in the Delhi’s squad, the fiery pacer has had middling performances but has shown the sparks of how good he can be, especially with his searing yorkers at the base of the stumps bowled at more than 90mph.
In his debut season for the DC, Rabada could manage only 6 wickets from 6 matches at an economy rate in excess of 8.8, which is certainly not suiting his stature as a bowler. While he missed out in the IPL 2018 due to injuries, Rabada could manage to salvage pride for himself and his team in the last IPL season knocking 25 wickets from 12 at an economy of 7.82.
DC will need Rabada in full form from the first match and his prowess with both new and old will be crucial for Shreyas Iyer and co. to make a mark in the upcoming IPL. He will be used sparingly by the team management for both the roles of striking with the new ball and containing a relatively older ball in overs between 15 to 20.
