A wily left-arm spinner who is more than capable with the bat, Gudakesh Motie is a professional cricketer for Guyana. Hailing from Georgetown, he was a part of the Guyana U-19 setup as well as the U-19 West Indies squad.
Motie arrived at the domestic circuit in 2015 and has been a regular feature for Guyana’s setup since. He was impressive in just his second match against the Leeward Islands, picking up his career-best figures of 11/105.
Motie was drafted into Guyana’s squad for the 2020-21 Regional Super50 tournament and he finished as the leading wicket-taker with 16 wickets. His domestic exploits earned him his maiden contract from the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the 2021 Caribbean Premier League(CPL).
At the age of 24, the Georgetown-born spinner became the latest Guyanese bowler to scalps 100 first-class wickets in the domestic circuit. The youngster now has his sights set on Test cricket and would be hoping to make great strides to get a breakthrough into the West Indies squad.
