Chris Lynn who was bought by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) twice in the span of four years, first in 2014 auctions, then again in 2018 for a whopping 9.6 crore, was let off by the team last year, because he did not fit into the dynamics.
Talking about the decision, KKR captain Dinesh Karthik said, “We had to let go of Lynn with a heavy heart, whatever time he spent with the franchise, he was an absolute gun.”
“Such are the dynamics of the auction that you have to let go of some players,” he added in a video uploaded by the KKR on their official website.
Further underscoring the importance of Lynn in past seasons, the Tamil Nadu batsman recalled, “Lynn is somebody I am really fond of, he brings a lot to the table.”
While they let go Lynn, KKR also signed up one of the most sought after players of the present time, English captain Eoin Morgan for Rs 5.25 crore.
Praising Morgan, Karthik, 35 believes that he and the team can learn a lot from the world cup winning captain.
“Eoin Morgan is there with us for this season, I have met him a couple of times, he is a gem of a guy, being a solid human being is something that everyone looks at, he is a World Cup-winning captain,” said Karthik.
“England is the best white-ball team in the world, I would try to learn from him, he has a great mind,” he added.
Australian Chris Lynn, would still be a part of the IPL as he was bought by Mumbai Indians at his base price of Rs two crore.
