Former India selector MSK Prasad, who since the end of his tenure, has been making headlines with certain revelations from the board meetings, took out another one from his Pandora box of trivia as he claimed that Rishabh Pant lost his initial charm because he wanted to fill Dhoni's shoes and started behaving like the Indian legend.
"Every time when Rishabh steps in, he is always compared with MS Dhoni, and probably, he is also getting caught in that euphoria. Many times, we spoke to him that he has to get over it," Prasad told Sportskeeda in a Facebook interaction.
Further divulging the details of the meeting, the former Andhra wicket keeper said, "We used to tell Pant, 'Mahi is an absolutely different personality, and you are different, you are also phenomenal, you also have talent, that's why we are backing you'."
But according to Prasad, 45, that advice didn't help Pant's cause as he, "started comparing himself with him." Prassad continued, "He started sort of copying him, even in mannerisms and all, if you see the way he does all that sort of stuff."
Now that Dhoni has retired, Pant has a great chance ahead of him in the form of IPL 13 where he would turn out for Delhi Capitals and by performing well, could rescue his India dreams.
