Hardik Pandya drops a major hint on fresh faces for Ireland Series. The Indian second-string team will lock horns with the Ireland team in the 2-match T20I series on June 26 and 28 at Castle Avenue, Dublin.

In the absence of experienced players, the Indian selectors provided a maiden call-up to the talented batter Rahul Tripathi, who had been consistent in the domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL) in recent years.

Tripathi had amassed 413 runs in 14 innings in the recently concluded IPL, and emerged as the second-highest run-scorer for the Sunrisers Hyderabad team.

In a press conference ahead of the T20I series against Ireland, the newly appointed captain Hardik Pandya dropped a hint on giving an opportunity to the fresh faces for the Ireland series.

"We want to give the opportunity to people but want to play our best XI as well. There will be a situation where there will be a couple of caps given but more than anything, it's about making sure that we have the best XI," Pandya said.

With Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant not available for this series, Tripathi can find an opportunity in the XI.

It is also known that Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh were denied an opportunity in the recently concluded series against South Africa.

Both pacers are expected to get tested in this series to prepare a pool of players, who will be in contention for the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup.
