Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, Sourav Ganguly has flown to Dubai to oversee the preparations for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which begins on 19th September amid tight bio-bubble conditions.
Sharing the information of his flight the 49 year old Ganguly posted on his official Instagram handle, a photo of himself all tied up in a face shield and mask, the standard protocol implemented across the globe for people travelling in aircrafts. “My first flight in 6 months to dubai for IPL...crazy life changes,” he captioned the photo.
After a lot of deliberations over whether the World Cup would be postponed or not, the BCCI finally made sure that once the global event in Australaia was postponed, it goes on with it's plan of staging the IPL.
The plan changed as the 13th edition had to be moved to UAE to humongous rise in covid cases in India. Had BCCI failed to organise the league this year around, it would have had a revenue loss of more than ₹4000 crore.
Ganguly will join IPL governing council chairman, Brijesh Patel who along with other important officials has been camping in the gulf nation to make everything perfect before the first game between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, next week.
