Dinesh Karthik Registers Shameful Duck; GT on Roll With Ball at Chinnaswamy

On Sunday, Dinesh Karthik bagged his fourth duck of the season - the most by any batter this year - to continue his shambolic time with the bat. Playing as a finisher for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the 37-year-old stumper has been having one of his worst Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons, amassing just 140 runs after 13 innings at a awful average of 11.67 with an equally disappointing strike rate of 134.62.

Karthik, with his four ducks, is just next to Jos Buttler in terms of most ducks in IPL 2023. Meanwhile, he is the joint second-most duck-getter in IPL history, alongside Herschelle Gibbs, Mithun Manhas, Manish Pandey, Shikhar Dhawan, Eoin Morgan, and Nicholas Pooran.

Meanwhile, the RCB keeper (17) has surpassed Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma with most number of zilches in IPL.

DK's wicket may have been the last of RCB's middle-order collapse, but his scalp was one of the most embarrassing wickets that fell in the phase. He got dented off a short delivery - dished down the leg stump - by Yash Dayal, on which the right-handed tried going for a pull but gloved down to the keeper.

His wicket came as a blessing in disguise for the Royal Challengers as Virat Kohli partnered with Anuj Rawat for the sixth wicket, sharing a 64-run partnership in the last 5.5 overs.

And, thanks to Kohli's record-breaking seventh IPL century, Bangalore have posted a fighting total of 197 for 5 in the do-or-die affair against the table-toppers Gujarat.
