Former England skipper Michael Vaughan finds himself in deep trouble after current Three Lions cricketer Adil Rashid testified against the former in front of the Cricket Discipline Commission on the second day of its hearing.

Vaughan has been charged by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) over racism allegations made by former Yorkshire teammate Azeem Rafiq in 2021.

In a scandal that rocked the ECB, Rafiq alleged that Vaughan made racial remarks — "there's too many of you lot" — ahead of Yorkshire's T20 Blast match against Nottinghamshire in 2009, which Rashid seconded as per a report in India Today.

Ajmal Shahzad and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan were also present as per the claims charged against Vaughan by Rafiq.

Here's what Rashid said

"He (Vaughan) said, 'There's too many of you lot", followed by words to the effect of, 'We need to have a word'. I am certain he used the phrase, 'There's too many of you lot,'"

Michael made an ill-judged comment. I heard it. I do not believe that he is racist or that this was said with any bad intention, but it was said."

Interestingly, Shahzad during the same hearing said that he believes the leg-spinner is being pressurised by Rafiq to support his stance against Vaughan.

Vaughan's lawyer Christopher Stoner further questioned Rashid, who is currently playing in Bangladesh, about Shahzad's statement, which the World Cup winner denied.
