Zimbabwe and Ireland shake hands as final game drowns in rain

An anticlimactic end to an exhilarating series was achieved between Zimbabwe and Ireland as rain played the spoilsport in the third and final ODI. While the first two games favoured both sides one each, the last match couldn't give us a clear winner with the series ending in a draw.

Zimbabwe couldn't continue their run

Choosing to bat first, the home side had a decent powerplay as they amassed 44 runs for the loss of one wicket with Chamu Chibhabha back to the pavilion on the score of 16. The rest of the two Innocent Kaia and skipper Craig Ervine were playing decently on 24 and 11 until the rain arrived to put the match to a halt by end of 13 overs.

The innings couldn't resume with intermittent downpours scrapping precious time from the game which ultimately never commence. Mark Adair was the only bowler with a wicket giving away 15 runs in his four overs.

Series couldn't get a winner

With so much being anticipated after the T20I series that went Zimbabwe's way 2-1, the gloomy end to the ODIs didn't do well for both nations. The first game was clinched by the Chevrons by 3 wickets in a rain-hit encounter whereas the second ended in the Irish side's favour who came back strongly to win by 46 runs.

After the conclusion of the series, Harry Tector was awarded player of the series for putting in some fine performances for his side. He said,

"It's never something you are striving for as a player, but very thankful for putting in match-winning performances. I was pretty confident. We've been fortunate to have played good ODIs in the last 12 months."
