Pakistan speedster Wahab Riaz powered his side to victory against the Chattogram Challengers in his latest BPL 2023 match. Playing for the Khulna Tigers, the seasoned pacer snared four wickets off his four overs, and in doing so, crossed an illustrious T20 milestone.

Wahab Riaz completes 400 T20 wickets

Wahab Riaz’s four-fer against the Challengers took him past the 400-wicket mark in T20 cricket, thus becoming only the second fast bowler in history of the format to do so. Dwayne Bravo remains the only other pacer to achieve the feat as the West Indian now sits at over 600 wickets.

Overall, Riaz became the sixth bowler in history to scale 400 wickets, with the other four being specialist spinners. He also became the first bowler from his country to reach the landmark. Sohail Tanvir’s 389-wicket tally remains the next best T20 record for a Pakistani cricketer.

Notably, Riaz last featured in an international for Pakistan back in December 2020. Desperate to make a return to the national side, the 37-year-old has been freelancing for several T20 sides across the world. He frequently appears in PSL, CPL, LPL and other tournaments, and has played 335 matches as of now, including 36 T20s at the international stage.

He is now expected to face the Dhaka Dominators for his side’s next BPL 2023 assignment, with the match set to be played in Mirpur on January 24.
