Stars vs Heat: Preview, Prediction, Fantasy Tips

It's the battle between the two sides who are languishing at the bottom of the table. Yes, I am talking about Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat.

So far, it has been a tournament to forget for both the sides. A campaign that had so much promise, diminished as both Stars and Heat faltered in crucial junctures.

Talking about Brisbane Heat, they are at the second last spot, with just three wins under their belt. Not an ideal position considering the squad they have.

But at-least they won their last game against Adelaide Strikers and will be heading into this game with some confidence. James Bazley star for them with the ball, and picked up 3 crucial wickets as the Heat managed to defend a below-par total of 154 with relative ease.

It'll be interesting to see if they can carry the same momentum against another stuttering side in Melbourne Stars.

Speaking about the Stars, not everything is going good for them. They are stranded at the bottom of the points table, and have only won 3 games in the entire competition.

Coming on the back of a loss in the Melbourne Derby, they have plenty to think about. It was Stars' game to be won, but they crumbled from a winning position and gave away the win on a platter. But the good news is that Marcus Stoinis, who missed the last match due to an injury is back for this contest. Can they get their confidence back against the Heat?

Match Details

Date and Time: January 16, 1:45 PM IST

Venue: Melbourne Cricket Ground, MCG

Streaming, telecast: Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV App

Pitch Report

The track at MCG is one of the best for T20 cricket in Australia. It provides a balance game of cricket between the bat and ball. The surface will have true bounce and the batters will generally enjoy batting here. With the long boundaries in play, bowlers will have some rejoice as they have a cushion. 159 is the average total on this wicket.

Probable XI

Marcus Stoinis is back in the side. He was recovering from a hamstring strain and was replaced by Tom O'Donnell in the Melbourne Derby bench. A fit Stoinis will be back in the playing XI.

Heat won their last game, so expect them not to tinker with the lineup. They'll go with the same squad as last time around.

Heat: Usman Khawaja (c), Josh Brown, Marnus Labuschagne, Matt Renshaw, Sam Hain, Jimmy Peirson (wk), James Bazley, Michael Neser, Spencer Johnson, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Kuhnemann

Prediction

A tough one to predict. Both the teams have been inconsistent throughout the tournament. But with Heat winning their last game, the momentum is with them. So Heat to win this game, by the barest of margins.
