After scoring a double-century against South Africa in the second Test, David Warner was praised for the grit and determination he displayed while batting in the Melbourne Heat. His outstanding knock helped Australia to gain an unassailable lead in the three-match Test series.

While he brought an end to his century drought, the expectations from him have only increased. To the unversed, the Kangaroos are scheduled to tour India for four-match Test series slated to begin on 9th February.

Yeah, the spin-friendly conditions have always been tough for the visiting side for which they start preparing beforehand. Now, former Australian cricketer, Callum Ferguson believes that the left-hander is the right guy for the Aussies to open up with during their tour to the subcontinent.

Ferguson said that wickets in India generally favour the batters in the initial period of the Test which could best be utilised by an opener who is in great form to score ton of runs.

“I think with the form he’s shown here, he’s got the feeling for batting long again. That’s so important for India, if you can get an opener in good form over there, it’s flat early in the Test match, bat first and, get a guy to make 150-200, I think he could really be the man to really tear the initial stages up for us."

David Warner will next be seen playing against South Africa in the third and final Test of the series to be played from the 3rd of January.
