Ross Adair has received a maiden national call-up to the Ireland squad for the Zimbabwe series slated to be played in January. The three-match T20I and as many ODI series will take place from January 12 to 23 in Harare Sports Club.

The 28-year-old Ross is the brother of Mark Adair, who is a talented all-rounder in the Irish team since making his debut in 2019. If Ross is a part of the XI, they will become the first pair of brothers after Niall and Kevin O’Brien created a record played against Afghanistan in 2018.

Interestingly, Ross is a former Rugby player, who plays for the Northern Knights in the domestic cricket. He has garnered 438 runs in 22 matches across two formats.

Ross Adair Statement

"I am absolutely delighted with the call up, but I'm not sure it's really sunk in yet if I'm honest. It's a huge honour for me and now I just can't wait to get away on tour. I have always wanted to push myself and get to as high a level as possible.

"I love my cricket and to have the opportunity to potentially represent Ireland at the highest level with Mark, would mean the world to me."

Meanwhile, Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector have been permitted by Cricket Ireland to take part in T20 franchise tournaments. Tucker will play ILT20, while Tector has a contract in Nepal T20. However, Tucker will feature in the ODI series and Tector would be playing all six matches of the Zimbabwe series.
