In a remarkable turn of events, ace Australian pacer Pat Cummins has completed 200 wickets in Test cricket.

In the ongoing first Test against West Indies, Cummins cleaned up Kraigg Brathwaite to achieve this feat and equal the legendary Jeff Thompson's tally of Test wickets. Now, Cummins is the only Australian bowler in the 200-wickets club with a bowling strike rate less than 50.

Australian bowlers with the best strike rates (minimum 200 Test wickets)

  • Pat Cummins - 200 wickets, Strike Rate: 47.5
  • Mitchell Starc - 288 wickets, Strike Rate: 50.1
  • Mitchell Johnson- 313 wickets, Strike Rate: 51.1
  • Glenn McGrath - 563 wickets, Strike Rate: 51.9
  • Dennis Lillee - 355 wickets, Strike Rate: 52

Since debuting in 2011, Cummins has established himself as a vital cog in the Australian lineup. The right-arm seamer, known for his searing pace and immaculate accuracy, was awarded with captaincy after exhibiting incredible consistency in the purest format.

After Aaron Finch retired from ODI cricket, Cummins, as an obvious choice, was named the ODI captain of the national side. Recently, he led Australia to a three-nil clean sweep against England.
