Former Indian cricketers Nayan Mongia, Shiv Sunder Das, Ajay Ratra, Maninder Singh and Hemang Badani are among the candidates who have applied for a post in India’s selection committee. The aforementioned stars applied for the posting before the deadline for applications closed on November 28.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to appoint an advisory committee tasked to conduct interviews before unveiling their next selection panel.

BCCI to announce replacement for outbound selection committee

The outgoing selection panel, led by former speedster Chetan Sharma, is slated to remain in place till the next committee is announced by the BCCI. At the moment, the current team is following the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy as well as the Cooch Behar Trophy matches.

Meanwhile, the next selection panel is likely to be announced before India’s home series against Sri Lanka in January next year.

Hemang Badani has emerged as one of the strong contenders among the candidates who have applied for the posting. He is currently associated with the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in the IPL. However, former cricketers Deep Dasgupta and Laxmi Ratan Shukla have dismissed the speculations about their participation in this race.

Additionally, India’s pace legend Ajit Agarkar did not apply for the post this time around, despite being one of the few high-profile candidates from the previous regime.
