David Warner was again in the headlines, this time for all the good reasons. On Tuesday, the menacing opening batter ended his three-year-long jinx by notching a hundred in the third ODI match against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The 36-year-old batter last scored a ton in a One-Dayer against India in Mumbai in January 2020. This century, which is Warner's 19th in the format, shattered many milestones as he shared a 269-run opening stand with Travis Head.

The southpaw was pretty blissful with his record-shattering hundred, but he also hinted about his retirement from the ODI format which may come sooner than later.

While talking to the host broadcaster, Warner said:

"This could be my last game at the home ground although I am fit and want to keep going till 2024. We have 14 Test matches straight before we play another white-ball game in Australia. Who knows, I may be back in 2024 (laughs)."

As scheduled, the Australians are to play a two-match Test series against West Indies and a three-match Test series against South Africa at home, before flying to England for the Ashes in June-July, 2023.

As of now, the Pat Cummins-led unit has no ODI scheduled to be played at the home soil before the 2023 World Cup. Meanwhile, Warner has already hinted about retirement from the longest form within the next 12 months.

Coming back to the ongoing match, Australia have posted a mammoth total of 355 runs after batting 48 overs. However, the World Champions England need to chase 364 in 48 overs on the DLS method.
