Former Australian pacer Ashley Noffke is in contention to take over as the role of a head coach for the England women's team.

Noffke featured in 2 T20Is and a single ODI and last represented the country in 2008. He took a total of five wickets in his short career. In over 200 games in the domestic circuit, the 45-year-old bagged a total of 524 wickets. His final appearance for Victoria came in 2010.

Noffke served as the head coach of champion Brisbane Heat in the 2019-20 Women's Big Bash League. Furthermore, he coached Queensland Fire to a title victory in the 2020-21 Women's National Cricket League.

The former pacer signed a contract extension with Heat, which runs until 2025. However,  the latest reports suggests that Noffke has been interviewed to fill the vacant spot of Lisa Keightley, who was the last head coach of the Three Lionesses.

In his past role as an assistant coach of Australian women's team, Noffke certainly possess a rich experience and a pedigree for this role.

The concerned job was advertised in September, and an appointment of an individual is expected to be announced in 10 days. It will a three-year fixed term until November 2025.

The competitors for Noffke are Jon Lewis (men's pace-bowling lead at the ECB) and Jon Lewis (batting consultant for England women). Also Jon Batty (coach of 2-time champions Oval Invincibles), Michael Bates and Gareth Breese are the few other candidates.
