Venkatesh Prasad blames India's team selection for semifinal horror

On Thursday, India suffered a humiliating defeat to England in the second semifinal, putting a painful end to their roller-coaster ride in the T20 World Cup. Moreover, Indian bowlers couldn't scalp a single English wicket, which raised questions over on-field strategies and team selection.

Legendary former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad opined that India missed the trick by not including Yuzvendra Chahal in their playing eleven. As the 53-year-old put it, the wily tweaker would've been a game-changer for India in Adelaide, considering the track's traditional assistance for spinners.

Prasad took to his Twitter handle to share his opinion. His tweet read,

"We are all more intelligent in hindsight. But it was so evident that wrist spinners will do very well in Adelaide. And India were not great in their selection and ignoring Chahal turned out to be a very vital factor. England deserved winners."

India were underwhelming, to say the least, in the showpiece event. Despite being studded with numerous match-winners in their squad, Rohit Sharma and co marginally won against Pakistan and Bangladesh while losing badly to South Africa in the second Super 12 fixture in Perth.

Nevertheless, they will aim at a resurgence when they tour New Zealand for two white-ball series starting on November 18.
