Rohit Sharma had a poor outing against Pakistan during India's T20 World Cup 2022 opener on Sunday.

The Indian captain was dismissed for just four runs from seven balls. However, he did bounce back strongly against the Netherlands with a well-made 53 from 39 balls.

Rohit will be hoping to build on the innings against Netherlands and get back to his rhythm as the World Cup starts to head into its business end.

India will need their top players firing on all cylinders if they want to win the marquee event in Australia and Rohit Sharma is certainly a key cog in India's well-oiled machine.

The Indian captain is one of the most devastating batters in limited overs cricket with the ability of winning matches all on his own. When India come up against the elite teams, later on in the tournament, they will need players like him to navigate the top class bowling units.

Rohit Sharma's coach has now opened up (h/t India Today) on the batter's recent struggles. Dinesh Lad believes that the Indian captain is trying to be overly aggressive with his approach and he needs to play his natural game

Dinesh Lad has urged the Indian star to spend more time in the middle and get set before hammering the bowlers.

"Yes, he is playing a high-risk game for quite some time now, which he should not. I have no idea why he is doing that. I think he is making a mistake in playing an overly aggressive game.

"I feel he should spend more time on the crease and not throw his wicket away. I don't want him to take chances in the first six overs of the powerplay. He should play his normal and natural game.

"He should try to play 17-18 overs and score around 70-80 runs in every match he plays. As his coach, I would like to see him as an anchor and not as a destroyer who plays high-risk games. If he stays on the wicket for some time, he will play long and useful innings."
