It was the biggest upset on the very first day of the ICC T20 World Cup when underdogs Namibia defeated Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka, in a shocking turnaround.

The hero of the match being all-rounder Jan Frylinck who performed exceptionally well with his all-round skills first to smash 28-ball 44 and then grab 2 for 26 to take his side home by 55 runs.

However, this surprising victory for the African nation has left many surprised, including Frylinck himself. He expressed his feelings stating it is something that even he was not expecting from his side. Left awestruck by his own performance, he said,

"I'm a little bit speechless at the moment. What we've just achieved is above what we thought we could do, and I'm very just excited at this point in time,"

Frylinck praises fellow teammate Smit

It wasn't just Jan who performed in the match, JJ Smit also took the bowlers to cleaners while giving the finishing blows, striking 31 from just 16 deliveries while scalping the crucial wicket of Chamika Karunaratne. Commending his teammate's contribution, Frylinck said,

"JJ just came in and took the pressure off me by hitting a couple of boundaries, and then myself and JJ just got us to a competitive total, and the bowlers were just great after that."

Namibia's magnificent performance have given them a head start in this competition which could very well help them to secure a place in the Super 12 if they manage to get past one of the UAE or Netherlands.
