New Zealand women [NZ-W] completed a 4-1 series win over the West Indies [WI-W] on Thursday night as they beat the latter by 6 wickets in the 5th and final T20I at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

Batting first, the hosts dished out an abysmal display as none of their batters apart from opener Hayley Matthews (56 off 54 deliveries) could get into the double figures.

As a result, the West Indies went from being 63/1 after 12 overs to finishing at an underwhelming 101/8 in 20 overs.

While Matthews scored 56 out of those 101 runs, the next score by a Windies batter was 8. As for New Zealand Women, Fran Jonas and Eden Carson bagged two wickets apiece, Suzie Bates registered unbelievable figures of 3/10 in 3 overs.

Maddy Green led the run-chase for NZ-W

Chasing a poultry total of 102, New Zealand Women got off to a poor start as they lost their top-3 wickets, including the legendary duo of Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine, at the score of 42 in the 10th over.

While Bates was run-out, leg-spinner Afy Fletcher (1/12 in 4) and Sheneta Grimmond (1/18 in 4) removed Bates and Brooke Halliday respectively.

But, all-rounder Amelia Kerr (25 off 31 deliveries) and Maddy Green, who scored an unbeaten 29-ball 32, guided the tourists home on the final delivery of the 20th over.

Brief Scores:

West Indies Women: 101/8 (20)

Hayley Matthews 56 (54)
Suzie Bates 3/10 (3), Fran Jonas 2/8 (4)

New Zealand Women: 102/5 (20)

Maddy Green 32* (29), Amelia Kerr 25 (31)
Afy Fletcher 1/12 (4), Sheneta Grimmond 1/18 (4)

New Zealand Women won by 5 wickets to claim the series 4-1
