England's top order batter Dawid Malan played a match-winning knock of 78* and powered his side to a massive total of 209/3 before the bowlers decimated Pakistan batting line-up to take their side to a comprehensive victory to win the seven-match T20I series.
Chasing 210, Pakistan’s batting line-up failed completely and could only score 142/8 in the allotted 20 overs, thus, handing a thumping 67-run victory to England in the series decider to take the series 4-3.
The victory wouldn't have been possible without the batting effort of the English batters as they powered England to a total of 209. The chief architect of the victory was Dawid Malan who scored an excellent 78 off just 47 balls, which included 11 boundaries.
Having been asked to bat first by the home side, openers Alex Hales and Phil Salt initially got England off to a quick start as they struck 39 runs from the first four overs. However, they both fell in quick succession after which England's number 3 took matters into his hand.
Malan put on 62 runs with the impressive Ben Duckett, who scored 30 off 19 before being run out by wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, before sharing a brilliant unbeaten partnership worth 108 with Brook as the pair closed out the innings in stunning fashion.
For his match-winning effort in the all-important seventh T20I, Malan was adjudged as the man of the match. Speaking about his sparkling innings and the historic series win over England, Malan said:
"We put on a big score, it was a fantastic effort from us. We felt the first 12-14 overs, it was coming on nicely. Luckily our bowlers learnt from the opposition bowlers' mistakes. It slowed down considerably. We are looking forward to getting off to Australia in a couple of days. Thanks for having us here,"
