IND vs AUS: Team of the Series

India and Australia competed in a three match T20I series. The number one team of the format and the defending champions of the T20 World Cup gave their best to lift the trophy.  

The visitors won the first match and made their intentions clear. But India made a great comeback in the next match and it was all down to the last match of the series. In the series decider India displayed nerves of steel to chase down a steep target of 187 runs with 6 wickets in hand and one ball to spare in the match. 

Let us take a look at the best eleven of the series.

Openeres

Cameron Green

Cameron Green was the highest run scorer of the series. He scored 118 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 214.55. Green was the stop gap opener of the series for the visitors and turned out to be the most impactful batter for them. He makes it into the best eleven as the first opener. 

Rohit Sharma (C)

Rohit Sharma's performance in the series was not upto the standards expected from him. he just managed to score 74 runs in the three innings that he batted. But in the second match which was shortened due to rain, Rohit played a match winning knock of 46 runs from 20 balls.  Thus he makes in to the team as the second opener and the skipper of the eleven. 

Middle Order

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli scored 76 runs in the series in 3 innings. The numbers again are not 'Kohlisque', but in the final match of the series, he played a knock (63 off 48) which went a long way in deciding the fate of the series.  

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav had 115 runs under his belt from 3 innings in the series. He was the second highest and the highest Indian run scorer of the series. Also Suryakumar gave a series defining performance in the final match of the series. This earns him the spot as the number four batter of the eleven. 

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya's numbers in the series read 105 runs of 3 matches. In the very first match he played a impactful knock of 71 runs off 30 balls. Hardik walks in to the eleven as an all-rounder and number 5 batter. 

Matthew Wade (WK)

Matthew Wade scored 89 runs in 3 innings. But in the first two matches Wade was probably the most impactful batter for Australia as he played two valuable knock in the lower middle order under pressure. Thus Wade is the wicket keeper and the number 6 batter of the eleven. 

Spinner

Axar Patel

Axar Patel was the highest wicket taker of the series with 8 scalps to his name. He was probably the only bowler in the series who was both economical and picked up wickets to go along with it. His batting could also be an asset to the eleven. 

Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa has picked up 3 wickets in the series in 3 matches. He earns a place in the team on the back of his performance in the second match where he picked up 3 wickets for 16 runs from 2 overs. 

Pacers

Nathan Ellis

Nathan Ellis has picked up 3 wickets in one innings in the series. In a series where most of the bowlers were taken to the cleaners, Ellis's performance was decent. So , he makes it into the eleven as the third pace bowling option. 

Josh Hazlewood

Hazlewood has 3 wickets to his name in 3 matches. Although he was expensive much like other pacers in the series, yet his figures were better than other pacers. So, he is the prime pace bowling option of the eleven.

Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav featured in just 1 match in the series. Despite that he is the highest wicket taker among the Indian pacers in the series. His strike rate as a bowler earns him a spot in the team of the series.
