Experienced English batter David Lloyd slammed his maiden triple century in first-class cricket during Glamorgan's ongoing County Championship encounter against Derbyshire.

Opening the batting, the Glamorgan skipper raced his way through to a fantastic 398-ball 313*, powering his team to a mammoth first innings total of 550 runs.

This is what Lloyd stated in his reaction

“It feels a bit surreal to be honest. It’s not something you think of before the game and I’m very fortunate it has happened in this game and I am very pleased with how it has gone so far,"

“Once I got to 100 my main focus was to get myself back in, start again, and get as many runs as I could possibly get. I thought I went through the gears quite well and it’s nice to repay the faith from the club to be honest."

After the batters did their job, Glamorgan bowlers dismantled Derbyshire's batting order, scalping five wickets for just 135 runs. Lloyd heaped praise on his bowlers for such an astounding effort. He also reckoned that it would be a daunting task for Derbyshire to bat from the third day onwards, as the pitch has started assisting the spinners.

David Lloyd has had a fruitful campaign in the County Championship this season. The stylish right-handed batter is the second-highest run-getter for Glamorgan with 843 runs including one hundred and four fifties.
