England's new-age sensation Alice Capsey has signed with the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) side Melbourne Stars for the upcoming 2022 season. This will be Capsey's first outing in the WBBL, having featured in The Hundred Women's league for the Oval Invincibles in both their title-winning campaigns.

She is the Stars' second overseas signing this season after India's Jemimah Rodrigues.

The 17-year-old made her England Women's debut against South Africa and ended up scoring 135 runs in five games in the recently concluded Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Her latest international outing resulted in England's comfortable win over India on Saturday.

Overall, in eight T20Is, the batting all-rounder has scored 192 with one fifty and claimed one wicket.

Capsey looks forward to an enriching WBBL

"I can't wait to get to Australia, I've heard so many great things from the English players going over to the WBBL and I'm excited to experience that.  I'm looking forward to playing against some of the best players in the world and playing in Australian conditions."

GM Blair Crouch expresses excitement over new acquisition

We're really excited to see Alice this summer and hopefully she can reproduce what she has already shown on the international stage in the WBBL. The WBBL continues to be the world's best domestic T20 competition for women and it's great to have a player of Alice's skill and talent join the Stars family."
