Lewis Goldsworthy and Somerset County Cricket Club (SCCC) have agreed to extend their partnership until 2024, stretching his existing contract, which was supposed to end by 2023. Goldsworthy is a product of the Somerset Academy, having graduated in 2016.

The youngster made his club debut in 2020 and has since featured in 17 First-Class, 16 List-A, and 25 T20 matches, scalping 29 wickets and amassing 1,575 runs across the three formats. The bowling all-rounder has one century apiece in FC and List-A, with the latter coming last month against Warwickshire.

In the ongoing County Championship Division One edition, Goldsworthy has scored 389 runs from eight games with a hundred and two fifties to his name.

He also played for England Under-19 in the 2020 ICC Under-10 World Cup and ended up being the side's joint leading (12) wicket-taker alongside Hamidullah Qadri.  The Cornwall-born has played two Youth Tests, 23 Youth ODIs, and a solitary Youth T20I for England U-19.

Goldsworthy on his Somerset extension

"Obviously, I’m really excited about this. I’ve loved my first three years at the Club, and I’m delighted to be signing for a bit longer. Hopefully, I can keep on developing and improving and help us to win some trophies. Playing for Somerset means everything. I’ve got a lot of good friends here and it’s great to be able to commit my future to the Club."

Andy Hurry, Director of Cricket Somerset, expressed his delight at extending their association

"This extension is not only a reflection of what he has achieved to this point, but also our belief in his ability to positively influence games and results across all formats in the future.

“We are excited to see the next chapter of his cricketing journey unfold, and we are relishing the opportunity to continue to work with him over the next few years to build on his achievements to date.”
