India, who have crashed out of the on-going Asia Cup 2022, are currently playing their last Super 4 game against Afghanistan, which is also their last game of the tournament before they return home.

India lost two back to back matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which led to them depending on the result of other teams to stay alive in the tournament. India needed Afghanistan to beat Pakistan and Sri Lanka to stay afloat, but Afghanistan lost to Pakistan, which confirmed the Rohit Sharma-led team’s exit from the tournament.

For their final game of the tournament, India decided to give a rest to their regular captain Rohit Sharma, in place of whom KL Rahul is at the helm of the team. This decision has not gone well with the fans, who feel there was no reason for the management to rest the Indian opener.

After defeating Pakistan and Hong Kong in their first two games of the tournament, India lost to Pakistan by five wickets in their first match of the Super 4, and by six wickets to Sri Lanka in the following game. Rohit Sharma was India’s top performer in the match against Sri Lanka, with a knock of 72. But he was not able to convert his starts in his first three outings of the tournament.

After losing two matches on a trot, skipper Rohit said that all is well in the dressing room, and that the team does not have any shortcomings.

"We are not worried after losing two matches back to back. We have won so many matches after the 2021 T20 World Cup. We are 90 per cent settled, only a few changes will happen. We don't have any shortcomings. There is quality in the team,” Rohit said in a press conference.
