After missing the bus to New Zealand for the Women's ODI World Cup in January 2022, South Africa's all-rounder Anneke Bosch has her eyes set on playing T20 WC next year.

The ICC Women's T20 WC is scheduled to be hosted by South Africa in 2023 between February 9 and 26.

Bosch's ambitions

“It would be amazing to be part of the World Cup. Especially after the disappointment earlier this year of missing out on my first World Cup. Now there’s another opportunity to be a part of next year’s T20 one and that would really mean a lot to me,"

“I hope I will be a part of it and hopefully there will be no injuries ahead of the World Cup,”

“The year has been full of cricket; it has been a busy year and I like it and I enjoy it a lot, but it was quite difficult to come back from that disappointment and injury just before the World Cup, but I am glad the year has turned out the way it did after that.

How Bosch has fared so far

Bosch made her South Africa debut in 2016 and has established herself as a hard-hitting batter in T20 cricket. In 15 T20Is, the 29-year-old has scored 348 runs with two fifties while picking up eight wickets.

She has played one Test and nine ODIs, amassing 141 runs and claiming four wickets across both formats.

In the recent tour of England, Bosch (96) ended up as the highest run-scorer in the T20I series, where South Africa lost 0-3. She also featured in South Africa's Emerging series against Zimbabwe where she scored 124 runs.
