Graeme White extends his contract with Northamptonshire

35 year old Graeme White is all set to extend his stay as a Steelback for another year after signing a one year extension of his contract.

White's extension of the contract means he will be representing the Northants in T20 cricket in the upcoming season, becoming their longest serving player. The slow left arm orthodox bowler made his First-Class debut for the club in 2006 and represented the Steelbacks for the first time the following summer. He has gone onto represent the club in 144 T20s and feels he still has a lot to offer. 

“I’m absolutely delighted to sign the new contract. I feel like I have plenty left to go out there and contribute for Northamptonshire and be a part of a really exciting T20 side that’s shaping up well for next year”

"I’m constantly learning in the role" - White on donning multiple roles 

White, who is the leading wicket taker for the Steelbacks, is also the Head coach of the Second XI and the club's fielding and spin bowling coach over the last few years. Talking about his time as the Second XI's coach, he said- 

“I’ve really enjoyed the role of Second Team Coach and I feel as if I’m constantly learning in the role – especially being in and around the lads on a daily basis and trying to guide them through their careers that are all at different stages.”

The 35 year old, who'll be taking over the double role of a coach and a player at the same time stated that it will be a challenge but he is ready to take it on. 

“I don’t think there’s any real guide to the transition from a player to a coach, to blend the two has been difficult but not impossible and I’m always learning and trying to work on doing things better. I’ve got good support around me with all the other coaches and the players have been great as well.”
