Waqar Younis' comment on Mohammad Rizwan offering his prayers during India vs Pakistan T20I encounter at the T20 World Cup 2021 didn't go well with the Indian fans.

As a result, the former cricketer received a lot of backlash on Twitter, and he even had to apologise for his remark.

In the latest interaction with OneCricket, Waqar Younis made it clear that his statement on Twitter after Pakistan’s decimation of India in the 2021 T20 World Cup were not to create any communal disharmony.

When asked to replicate the scenario of the controversial statement, Waqar replied

“See, as I said earlier, emotions make you do funny things. At the time, I was driven by emotions, which shouldn’t have happened,

“I'm on Twitter and I say things to create the banter. Sometimes spicy things should happen, which I like as well and are important in the context. But there should be some limit to it. To be honest, that happened in the heat of the moment. I stated in the flow of emotion, which is wrong of me. And I think, we should move on.”

India and Pakistan are set to clash once again in the Asia Cup high-octane game on August 28.
