Champion Indian Test No.3 Cheteshwar Pujara has revealed that winning the World Test Championship [WTC] remains one of his major goals.

The 33-year-old cricketer revealed his ambition during a Question-Answer session he conducted with fans on his Twitter account on Wednesday, August 24th.

Amid a sea of questions, one of the Twitter users asked about his future goals as an international cricketer.

Here's what Pujara replied:

Pujara is currently in the midst of a record-breaking season with English County, Sussex. The right-handed Saurashtra cricketer has smashed 8 hundreds for Sussex in the ongoing FC championship and the Royal London One-day competition.

India were the runners-up in WTC 2019-21

Pujara and India came agonisingly close to claiming the coveted title during the inaugural cycle.

The Virat Kohli-led side dominated the two-year-cycle by hammering the likes of South Africa, Bangladesh, England, West Indies besides beating Australia for the 2nd time in three years Down Under.

However, familiar problems in seaming conditions and a relentless New Zealand attack in the 6-day final at the Ageas Bowl forced India to settle with the runners-up tag.

In the ongoing cycle, India are currently at the 4th spot with their PCT being 52.08 (6 wins and 4 defeats in 12 games).

For them to ensure a top-2 finish, the former No.1 ranked side will have to win at least 5 out of their remaining 6 games, while also hope for some favorable results in series involving other countries.

Pujara, who regained his place in the side following his snub after the South African series, will be looking to play a major part with the bat in order to fulfil his dream.
