Talented Indian top-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues believes that the Women's IPL will have the same revolutionary effect as the Women's Hundred ball competition has had in England.

Rodrigues, 21, is representing the Northern Superchargers in the ongoing season of the  Hundred.

According to media reports, the BCCI have earmarked March 2023 as the window for the inaugural Women’s IPL, and Rodrigues can't wait to feature in it.

Speaking to news agency PA, the 21-year-old remarked:

"The WIPL is looking like it’s going to happen for sure this time, and we’re really, really looking forward to it,”

While the Men's Hundred continues to remain a polarizing debate in the cricket ecosystem, there seems to be a clear consensus on the fact that the women's edition is good for the overall development of the game and its players.

'Maybe that will be key to winning the gold'- Jemimah Rodrigues

Rodrigues was a part of the Indian team that won the prestigious silver medal at the recent Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

However, the recurring theme was once again on show in the gold medal game as the Indian eves lost the plot from a position of dominance to squander the advantage to eventual champions, Australia.

The absence of a full-fledged domestic T20 league is regularly pointed as the main reason behind the women's team's inability to win knockout games.

"It will change things massively, like how the Hundred changed cricket in England and the WBBL [Women’s Big Bash League] changed cricket in Australia, I’m sure the women’s IPL will change the game drastically in India, and maybe that will be key to winning the gold and winning trophies.” she said.

Rodrigues will be next seen in action on Friday, when the Superchargers lock horns with Birmingham Phoenix in Southampton.
