As it panned out, Mysore Warriors (MW) annihilated Mangalore United (MU) in the 19th match of the Maharaja T20 League 2022, claiming a six-wicket victory, courtesy Pavan Deshpande and Karun Nair's scintillating show with the bat.

While Mangalore United did well enough to reach 171 runs in their 20 overs, it wasn't meant to be enough as Mysore Warriors came out hard, with Deshpande and Nair playing blistering knocks during the course of the run-chase.

Deshpande, Nair stitches the win

Making the target seem like a child's play, the Warriors were handsomely led by skipper Nair. The captain was seen at his best and was well complemented by Deshpande, who had been in a rich vein of form throughout the tournament.

The duo made the run-chase a cakewalk, however, it was not smooth sailing initially. As the score read 50/2 at 6.1 overs, the situation demanded wise heads.

Deshpande in Nair's company came up with the goods, setting up an 88-run partnership for the third wicket. Despite M Venkatesh's exploits with the ball, Deshpande pulled off an unbeaten 35-ball 53 to lead Mysore towards a six-wicket victory in the 19th over.

Manohar goes berserk

It was not at all a joyous ride for the United, who were put in to bat first. As Prateek Jain reduced the Ravikumar Samarth-led outfit to 53/3, they were expected to keel over even further.

However, Nikin Jose and Abhinav Manohar came to their side's rescue, recording half-centuries to help them post more than a respectable total.

While Jose played second-fiddle to Manohar, the latter brought his hard-hitting to the fore, bludgeoning 68 runs off 35 deliveries. Mangalore finished their 20 overs at 171/7.

As far as their upcoming clashes Mysore Warriors will square off against Hubli Tigers on August 18. Mangalore United will collide with Gulbarga Mystics on August 19.

Brief scores:

Mangalore United - 171/7 (20)

Abhinav Manohar 68 (35), Nikin Jose 55 (47);
