Ahead of the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, India’s vice-captain Shikhar Dhawan lauded the star all-rounder Sikandar Raza. The Zimbabwe player is in the form of his life as he recently smacked the Bangladesh bowlers all over the park.

Raza bagged all the limelight in the cricket fraternity owing to his exemplary performance in white-ball cricket. Following the conclusion of the three-match T20I series against the Tigers, the right-hander was successful in winning the Player of the Series award for scoring 127 runs at an average of 63.5.

Dhawan backs bowlers to have good plans against Raza

The 36-year-old replicated his brilliant performance in the 50-over format as well. He was the top scorer for his team in the ODI series. Playing the three-match ODI series, the right-hander smashed 252 runs. Notably, Raza registered two consecutive centuries in the first two matches.

With Raza in red-hot form, India doesn’t have any plans of taking the player for granted. Dhawan seemed impressed with the batter for his back-to-back stunning performances. Meanwhile, the vice-captain also showed faith in the Indian bowlers for coming up with good plans against Raza.

“He is a very good player. He has been playing for Zimbabwe for a long time. He is a quality player. I am sure our bowlers will come up with nice plans against him," Dhawan said as quoted by India Today.

India to not take Zimbabwe for granted in the ODI series

Furthermore, Dhawan was all praises for Zimbabwe for their promising performance against Bangladesh. The host played a good brand of cricket to defeat the Tigers by 2-1 in both the ODI and T20I series.

The Indian opening batter believes that Zimbabwe’s victory has also improved their chances of putting up a good show against the Men in Blue. The 36-year-old admitted that India is ready for the ODI series, starting from August 18 at the Harare Sports Club.

“They have won against Bangladesh. They are playing good cricket. It’s good for us and we cannot take anything for granted. It’s about the process.

“Regardless of the team we are facing, we always make sure we do things right so that we end up getting the right results. That will once again be our focus as a team," Dhawan concluded.
