Kevin O'Brien announces retirement from international cricket

Ireland all-rounder and most capped player, Kevin O'Brien has announced his retirement from international cricket. He last represented Ireland in the ICC World Cup 2021. 


O'Brien's career highlights 

The all-rounder is the only centurion for Ireland in Test cricket, he scored a phenomenal 118 on his debut against Pakistan in 2018 on home soil. He has represented the country in all the three test matches that the team has played. 

He shone in the spotlight at the ICC Men's World Cup 2011 when he scored a 50 ball ton, becoming the fastest every centurion in World Cups. 

The Irish played a leading role in the team's victory over Pakistan in the 2007 World Cup. He took the wicket of Shoaib Malik and finished off the game alongside his elder brother Niall O'Brien who scored a magnificent 72. 



His illustrious career stats

A phenomenal all-rounder, O'Brien scored 3619 runs at 29.42, including 2 tons and 18 fifties. Meanwhile scalping 114 runs at 32.68 in ODIs. 

In T20Is, he is one of the two players to score a ton. He scored 1973 runs at 21.21 and collected 58 wickets at 19.81 in 110 innings. 


O'Brien's future venture

The Dublin-born has confirmed his participation in the second edition of Legends League Cricket. He represented the franchise World Giants in the first season.
