Fazalhaq Farooqi ruled out of Ireland series following side strain

In an unfortunate turn of events, promising Afghanistan seamer Fazalhaq Farooqi has been ruled out of the last two T20Is of the ongoing Ireland series owing to a right-side strain.

Farooqi, who has represented Afghanistan in 16 international matches, experienced considerable pain in his right lateral thorax during the third T20I on Friday. Following this incident, the talented left-arm seamer was sidelined from the rest of the tour and advised a break for his recovery.

Afghanistan have massively underperformed, losing two of three games played on the tour so far. Moreover, Rashid Khan, the spearhead of Afghanistan's bowling attack, is yet to fire, and Naveen ul Haq has blown hot and cold too. In such a scenario, Farooqi's ouster one day prior to the must-win encounter has raised serious concerns in the visitors' camp.
